HMAS Otway
Holbrook, NSW

Photos courtesy of Alan Yee

HMAS Otway - an Oberon Class submarine now resides at the Town of Holbrook, NSW.

This town formally known as Gremanton, was changed to Holbrook, to commemorate Lt Norman Holbrook RN, who during WW1 whilst commanding the submarine B-11 sailed into the Dardenelle Strait and torpedoed the Turkish battleship Messoudieh in Darden Bay and then returned safely.

He was awarded the first naval VC and his crew got the DSM.
