[AMillen@seic.com] Subject: 60 cm morser Karl Hi there, new poster here! Led here by Shane Jenkins. I posted a request on the SMML for any information regarding the CMK 1/35th resin kit of the 60cm self-propelled mortar Karl, and he sent me here. Has anyone built it? Or have it in the to-do pile? How is the detail? I've had the Hasegawa version for decades, but the rest of my collection is in 1/35th, and I've always wanted one of these monsters in the larger scale. Is it worth the $115 being asked by Squadron? What about the attendant rail cars for $179? Enough for my first post. Alan R. Does anyone have further information/confirmation of this story? John Harris Oh no, someone's found out about my latest acquisition for my 1:1 scale militaria collection :-) Robert -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: Bill Scriven [bill.scriven@which.net] Subject: Saracen ambulances One of these days I'll build myself a Saracen ambulance using the JB kit as a basis. The problem is that while I have plenty of pictures of the ambulance conversion of the FV 603B Mk5 (the up-armoured version of the basic APC) I don't seem to be able to find any of the earlier version based on the Mk 1,2 or 3. I particularly want to know whether the turret was normally retained on these earlier models (it wasn';t on the Mk 5). Can anyone help? I would also like to know whether their is any evidence of the FV111A - which is recorded in one source as being an ambulance conversion of the FV610 Saracen Armoured Command Post - was actually used in service. Again, I'd welcome any photographic references. The only place and time that is somewhat set is London during the week of May 22 - 27. Other than that are plans are still open. I know the obvious places, the IWM, HMS Belfast, Greenwich, Bovington, RAF Duxford, etc. If we can work it, we would like to do the Chunnel and visit Normandy, Verdun, Waterloo, etc. Other than a stamp show in London during the week of the 22d (the purpose of the trip for business purposes) we are planing on seeing battlefields, military museums and the like. Any suggestion would be appreciated. If Robert will allow, you can post responses on ThinkTank, or reply to me directly at msb2@hotmail.com TIA Stuart Batchelor Norman, Oklahoma msb2@hotmail.com Please feel free to post responses here - with any luck, some of you will know about places I have never been ;-). With thanks, Malc. I think this is probably the Sonderanhanger 116, with four axles and a detachable rear end with a steering position. It is often seen with a Pz III on the back. There is a kit of it but memory fails me as to who makes it - I would guess at Scale Model Accessories or DES. Robert -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) From: Listmaster Subject: Land Rovers in Aden Alan I raised this question with Paul Middleton the other day and he tells me, based on testimony from someone who was there, that the sets were Larkspur types, I think C42s. Accurate Armour's Ferret kits include a Larkspur set so you may find that grovelling to them will persuade them to sell you the relevant sprue separately. The website is at http://accurate-armour.com/ and there should be a means to email them from there -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRADERS, ANNOUNCEMENTS & NOTICEBOARD -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) From: Listmaster Subject: Downtime in March 2000 I regret (well actually I don't) that I will be away for a couple of weeks in March, so there will be no issues between next week (4th March) and 25th March unless anyone is rash enough to volunteer to compile them and send them out. In the meantime, you may like to try posting any urgent queries on Missing Links at http://www.missing-lynx.com/ which I have found to be a useful source.
