So if you have the info and don't see it on his list, there is a pretty good chance he will produce it for the general market and if he does, you get your set for free. -- Paul Roberts Scale Tech Distributing Contract Model Makers tankmodeler@home.com http://www.tamcotec.com/proberts/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) From: Kindrachuk, Mark [Mark.Kindrachuk@justice.gc.ca] Subject: WWI tank drawings In addition to the sources already mentioned, George Bradford (publisher of AFV News) has produced an extensive range of computer-generated plans, which he can supply at any desired scale. There are a few WWI subjects available: FT17, Schneider, Whippet, and some early Italian tanks. A complete list of available drawings is at http://www.activevr.com/afv/1-35.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) From: John Harris [john@ukmilmod.force9.co.uk] Subject: More from the Beatties front This week's offers include M26 (with trailer) @ £29.95, M26 with the full set @ £41.95 John Harris john@ukmilmod.force9.co.uk UK Military Modelling http://www.ukmilmod.force9.co.uk Unable to resist the prospect of an M26 at £42, I bimbled into Beatties's Holborn store on Thursday, but none was in sight. I did see several Tamiya Leopard 2A5s at around £15, which looked like a significant saving, and also the modern Jap MBT at a similar price. It appears that this may be a local bargain offer. BTW, surely the £29.95 is the tractor unit without trailer? As regards WW1 tank plans, the Bellona Mk 1 plan that I have includes details of the wireless conversion. I also have a plan this conversion that was copied from a Polish book on WW1 tanks. Neither include details of the plated over sponsons, but both show the mast and aerial layout - though not in sufficient detail to enable for these features to be correctly modelled. For that you also need to refer to the available photographs. There's one on page 30 of "Landships" (see below), and I have a handful more that I got from the Tank Museum at Bovington (including two interior views showing the wireless equipment). If you are looking for photographic references, you might try the following: Landships - David Fletcher (HMSO) A New Excalibur - A J Smithers (Leo Cooper) Tanks and Trenches - David Fletcher (Ed) (Grange Books) The last of these includes a good shot of the underside of a toppled A7V. Finally, I wholeheartedly endorse Danny's comments about the quality of the bacon sarnies at the London MAFVA Opens - it's worth attending just for those (and if Danny's entering models in the comps that's all I'll get!). Bill Scriven -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) From: Clifton W. McCullough [mccullou@hal-pc.org] Subject: New web site Has anyone had experience with the following website? http://www.armybook.com/ They list a great many interesting Russian books and magazines as well as kits. According to their telephone number, they are in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. They are a new listing on Tony Matelleniano's (sp?) links site. I got the following reply when I asked about shipping costs: "Dear Mr. McCullough, We have one part of items in stock and some items we order after receiving customer's order. No, prices don't include postage. The mail service cost $12,95 for USA/Canada and $11,95 for Europe. Yours sincerely, Serg Berg" Postage seems high if it is for one item costing $4 or so.
