June meeting review

It is gratifying that we continue to see a high number of attendees at the APMA June meeting. There was also a great selection of subjects and models on the tables both from the general display and this months theme, Space and NSAA. The quality of the builds and the unbridled imagination was superb as demonstrated by this months winners (see below).

We also had an exciting presentation for Tudor Goode on WREST- Australia’s First Satellite. Tudor introduced this remarkable story by revealing that Australia was the 3rd country in the world (behind USA an the then USSR) to build and launch a satellite on sovereign territory! His presentation include a sort history of the Woomera Rocket Range, the projects that led up to WRESAT launch, Projects Dazel and SPARTA. Final providing detailed information about WRESAT is mission, specifications and fight profile. Tudor has generously provided a PDF copy of the prestation WRESAT-Australia’s first satellite for download if you missed the meeting or would like further details
