February 2026 Special APMA 50th anniversary celebration day meeting review

APMA 50th Anniversary celebrations

What a turn out for our 50th Birthday celebrations more than 45 members and guest came along to display their models and celebrate the Australian Plastic Modellers Association 50 years of modelling. It was also good to see our friends and sponsors from Platypus Publications, Sideline Hobbies and Star Hobbies in the room. Not only did we have a full house of people but the tables were overflowing with models including the first of or special anniversary displays and the Annual QT Bunni competition.

Special 50th Anniversary display

This the first of three special displays throughout the year was a collection A collection of 1976 Airfix kits by Bob Morgan and Warren Evans. This nostalgic display included unopened boxes blister packs, catalogues, magazines and completed kits. It was a real treat, many thanks to Bob and Warren for bringing these precious items in for all of us to enjoy. You can see the collection of items in this months photo gallery below.

QT Bunni competition

As is customary the February meeting means QT Bunni time. This annual event is hosted by our fearless APMA Editor Andrew Mores and sponsored by Ley Reynolds from Platypus Publications. This years QT Bunni theme ‘Unique One-Of Dead Ends’ only 1 built and never went further was a raging success with a plethora of models on display. This made life difficult for Andrew with such a large selection of models judge. That said he was up to the task and you can see the winners below and all the QT Bunni entrants in the this months photo gallery.
