March 2026 meeting review

Ley Reynolds congratulating Ian Wrenford
Ley Reynolds congratulating Ian Wrenford the 1926-2026, 100 Years of Twins theme winner.

There was a modest turn out this month. However, the tables were full! This was due to the popularity the theme ‘1926-2026, 100 Years of Twins’  sponsored by Ley Reynolds from Platypus Publications.

Ley Presented Platypus Publications Gift Certificates to first and second place holders as voted by members attending the meeting. Ian Wrenford took out first place with his Avro Anson CSIRO cloud seeding aircraft and Phil Wordsworth was runner up with his Northrop F89J Scorpion. See the theme winners cards below for more details about both of these models.

Finally Ley presented a most enlightening talk on the somewhat overlooked but nonetheless effective WW2 British fighter the Hawker Hurricane. Ley talked about the construction techniques, difference between variants, the countries that flew them and the theaters they operated in during the war.
